Opening Hours and Facilities

What are the opening hours?
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (last admission at 4:30 PM).
When is the museum closed?
The museum has no regular closing days. For temporary closures due to exhibit installations or reinstallations, please check the calendar.
Is the museum open during the New Year holidays?
Yes, the museum remains open. For any temporary closures, please check the calendar.
How long does a visit usually take?
Most visitors spend between 30 minutes to an hour.
Are there any items that cannot be brought into the museum?
Large luggage, backpacks, food and drinks, cameras or photography equipment (other than smartphones), umbrellas, pens (only pencils are allowed), and hazardous materials (flammable, explosive, etc.) are prohibited.
Are lockers available?
Yes, we offer free coin lockers that require a refundable 100 yen coin.
Are there services or facilities for visitors with disabilities?
The exhibition rooms have ramps (there are stairs to the rooftop and courtyard). A wheelchair is available, but please note that only one is available. A wheelchair-accessible restroom is also available.
Can I visit the museum with my pet?
For the preservation of the artwork, animals and plants are not allowed inside. However, guide dogs, hearing dogs, and service dogs are permitted.
Is there a stroller available for small children?
Yes, we provide one stroller. Please note that availability is limited.
Is there a restroom with a changing table?
Yes, we have one restroom with a changing table. We kindly ask visitors to take back any personal disposable items, such as diapers, as they may emit odors.
Who designed the museum building?
It was designed by Mr. Atsushi Kitagawara of Kitagawara Architectural Urban Design Laboratory.

Exhibitions

What is the current exhibition?
For details, please check the “EXHIBITION” or “COLLECTION” sections.
Can I take photos in the exhibition?
You may take photos with your smartphone. However, the use of flash, video recording, and professional cameras is prohibited. Please refrain from taking photos for non-personal or commercial purposes.
Can I take notes in the exhibition room?
Yes, you may take notes, but only with pencils.
Can I sketch in the museum?

Yes, sketching is allowed, but only with pencils.

Are there guided tours of the exhibition?
We offer a brief introduction to the museum and exhibition at the reception. Audio guides are available depending on the exhibition. Gallery tours are available in Japanese, and must be reserved in advance.
Are there tours in non-Japanese languages?
No, we only offer tours in English, and reservations are required.

Keith Haring’s Works

Does the museum appraise or purchase Keith Haring’s works?
The museum does not offer appraisals or purchases of artworks.
I found an artwork with the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection logo stamp on the back at an auction. Is it authentic?
We have received several reports of this, but the museum does not stamp artworks with its logo. Any artwork with such a stamp has no connection to the museum.
Can I create products using Keith Haring’s artwork?
This may constitute copyright infringement. Copyright for Keith Haring’s works is managed by the Keith Haring Foundation. Please contact them directly here.
Can I borrow works from the collection?
Please send a project proposal outlining the purpose of the loan through the CONTACT US form.

Admission Fees

What is the admission fee?
Adults ¥1,500, visitors with disability certificates ¥600 (one accompanying person at the same rate), students 16 years and older ¥800, children 15 years and under free, groups of 20 or more ¥1,500 per person.
All fees include tax.

Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets are available at the museum reception. Please note that there are no physical tickets.
Do I need to reserve tickets in advance?
Reservations are not required unless you are visiting as a group of 20 or more.
Can I receive a receipt for my ticket?
Yes, receipts are available upon request.
Can I use credit cards or electronic payments?
Yes, we accept the following credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, JCB, Diners Club, and American Express. We also accept various electronic payments and QR code payments.

Access

Is parking or bicycle parking available?

P1: 18 regular cars (in front of the museum)
P2: 12 regular cars (3-minute walk from the museum)
P3: 17 regular cars (3-minute walk from the museum)

How can I get to the museum from Tokyo?

By train:
Take the Chuo Line Express from JR Shinjuku Station (about 2 hours) to JR Kobuchizawa Station. From there, take a taxi to the museum (about 8 minutes).
By highway bus:
Take the highway bus from Busta Shinjuku (Shinjuku–Chino–Suwa–Okaya line) for about 2.5 hours. Get off at the Kobuchizawa Bus Stop on the Chuo Expressway. From there, it’s about a 5-minute taxi ride or a 30-minute walk to the museum.

Approximate time and fare to the museum:
 •From JR Kobuchizawa Station: 8 minutes, around ¥1,700.

What are the road conditions in winter?

During winter, the roads may be icy or snowy, and winter tires or chains may be required. Please check the weather forecast for Kobuchizawa before visiting.

Museum Shop

Can I visit the museum shop without paying the admission fee?
Yes, the shop is accessible without purchasing a museum ticket.

Group Reservations

Can I make a group reservation?
For groups of 20 or more, we kindly ask that you make a reservation in advance. Please make a reservation through the CONTACT US form.
Are there group rates?
No, group rates are not available.
Can we visit as part of a school class, field trip, or club activity?
Yes, that is possible.
Is there parking for buses?
Yes, but parking is limited. Please notify us in advance of the number and size of buses through the CONTACT US form so we can reserve parking spaces.

Is there a place to eat?
We kindly ask that visitors refrain from bringing food or beverages into the museum to preserve the artwork and maintain a clean environment.
Is there a smoking area?
Smoking is prohibited throughout the museum and surrounding areas.
Is Wi-Fi available at the museum?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available. Access via “ID: KEYSPOT” and “PW: Wellness2021.”
Are there sightseeing spots nearby?
