In 1983, Keith Haring’s hand-painted T-shirts were first sold at Patricia Field’s shop on 8th Street in New York. Later, in 1986, Haring launched Pop Shop, a revolutionary space for sharing art, where he sold T-shirts as “wearable art pieces.” However, before this groundbreaking venture, Haring’s encounter with Patricia Field laid the foundation for this concept.
Nearly 30 years later, in 2010, the collection K. Haring by House of Field was launched to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Haring’s passing, marking a new collaboration between Keith Haring and Patricia Field, transcending time and space.
This exhibition revisits the early 1980s in New York, where Keith Haring and Patricia Field first met. It showcases their collaboration through the lens of art and fashion, featuring Hiraku, from the House of Field discovered by Patricia herself. The exhibition includes apparel from K. Haring by House of Field alongside works from the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection. Curated by Hiraku, who also serves as the Director of Art & Fashion at the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection, the exhibit presents the dynamic world of Keith and Patricia through innovative styling and artistic vision.
