Starting on June 3, the “Keith Haring: Downtown Renaissance” exhibition will be held at the Room of Darkness to Room of Hope. This exhibition will explore our collection held from four perspectives: “Underground Culture,” “Homosexuality and HIV/AIDS,” “Art in Society,” and “From New York to the World,” focusing on the 1980s New York where Haring was active. The exhibition will feature the unveiling of a mural titled “Mural for Mount Sinai Hospital,” which has never been publicly displayed for 34 years, making it the first time it will be exhibited in Japan.Haring’s messages, along with archival photographs taken by photographers who lived during the same era and other materials, will also be displayed.
