Kazuo Nakamura, the collector and founder, began collecting Haring’s works after encountering a piece in New York in 1987. Currently, the museum houses approximately 300 works, alongside over 700 archival items including photographs, videos, and goods produced during Haring’s lifetime. The Nakamura Keith Haring Collection continues to acquire works to convey the breadth of Keith Haring’s diverse creative endeavors. In 2017, the museum added the Patricia Field Art Collection, collected by the world-renowned stylist and costume designer Patricia Field, and also began showcasing and collecting works from emerging artists.

Atsushi Kitagawara

Architect / Professor Emeritus at Tokyo University of the Arts / Founder of Kitagawara Architects

Atsushi Kitagawara launched his architectural career in his twenties after winning first place in an international design competition while still a student at Tokyo University of the Arts. Now a Professor Emeritus, Kitagawara is celebrated for his distinctive designs, drawing inspiration from poetry, music, and contemporary art. His work has been showcased globally, earning prestigious awards, including the Architectural Institute of Japan Award, the Good Design Gold Award, and the ARCASIA Gold Medal. Known for projects that foster cultural and economic revitalization, Kitagawara’s designs continue to attract international attention, establishing him as one of the most acclaimed architects today.
