Commemorating the 30th year since Keith Haring’s death, in this exhibition, we explore the impact Haring’s art continues to have, beyond timeandsociety.

On February 16, 1990, Haring died of AIDS-related complications at the age of 31. Moving from Pennsylvania to New York, from street art to the 80’s modern art scene, Haring quickly shot up to global fame. Haring chose to work in a wide variety of methods, from subway drawings, sculptures, large-scale paintings, posters, worldwide public art, and workshops, to commercial endeavors such as the opening of Pop Shop, with the encouragement of Andy Warhol (1928-1987), where he sold his original goods—above all was the esthetics, “art is for everybody”.

Keith Haring :Endless features Altarpiece: Life of Christ (1990) as one of the highlights. The altarpiece made to be placed at church is a bronze triptych finished with white gold leaf patina, features figures resembling a Madonna and Child artwork, carved sturdily by Haring himself.

The rest includes a large canvas work basing a photograph taken right after his discovery of the AIDS diagnosis, Untitled (Self Portrait) (1988), a collaboration silkscreen series with poet William S. Boroughs (1914-1997), Apocalypse (1988).

Although three decades have passed since his death, today, not a year passes by without his work being exhibited around the world and his art is continuously employed in fashion, social activism, and entertainment. Haring’s energy generated by his strong wish for equality, human rights, and world peace lives endlessly through his art.
